Woman fighting for life following collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a car collided with a woman in Stalybridge.

At around 10.45pm on Saturday 2 February emergency services were called to Darnton Road near to the junction of Ash Grove in Stalybridge to reports that a white Daihatsu Hi-Jet van had collided with a 40-year-old woman.

The woman was taken to hospital where she is currently in a life-threatening condition.

The driver of the van remained at the scene and is supporting police with enquiries.

No arrests have been made but police are investigating.

Police Constable John Harrison-Gough from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “First of all, my thoughts are with the woman and her family as she fights for her life in hospital.

“We have launched an investigation into this incident and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed it to get in touch.

“We would particularly like to hear from anyone with dash-cam footage as this could really help us with our enquiries.”
