Violent criminal jailed!

A violent criminal who escaped from prison and went on the run for nine months has been apprehended.

41 year old Paul James Butler, from Stockport, was allowed a four day temporary release from Hatfield prison on the 27^th May in 2016, however he failed to return to the open prison as required on the 31^st May.

Butler was serving a 10 year sentence for wounding with intent after he attacked his flatmate and repeatedly hit him over the head with a hammer and stabbed him in the hand with a kitchen knife. Despite the severity of the attack as he was nearing the end of his jail term he was considered eligible for a temporary release.

Butler was arrested in Hollywood Towers near to the town centre last month, yesterday he was sentenced to a further four months behind bars at Stockport Magistrates Court.
