A community celebration is to be held in Silsden to mark the official re-opening of the Leeds Liverpool Canal towpath.
The ceremony is to take place on Saturday (18 August) following improvement works as part of a £2.9m scheme to boost cycling and walking access on four West Yorkshire canals.
The scheme is part of West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s £60m CityConnect programme, which works in partnership with local authorities and other organisations to encourage more people to get active.
Members of the community will be joined by Cllr Kim Groves, Chair of West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Transport Committee, Cllr Taj Salam, Cycling Champion at City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council and John Grogan, MP for Keighley and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Waterways.
