Police Appeal After Shot Fired In Huddersfield

Police are appealing for witnesses after reports of a firearms discharge on Chestnut Street, Huddersfield in the early hours of Wednesday morning.　

The incident happened at just after 1am when callers reported a number of males in the street, one of them with a firearm.　

Armed officers and the dog unit attended with support from a National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter.　

The investigation into the incident is continuing and it is not believed anyone was injured.　

Detective Inspector George Bardell of Huddersfield CID, said: " We are conducting enquiries into this reported incident this morning and would like to speak to anyone who saw suspicious behaviour between 12am and 1am in the Chestnut Street area, including Woodhouse Hill and Riddings Road.　

"Anyone who has information can contact Huddersfield CID on 101 or the independent Crimestoppers charity, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
