Be sure to look up this weekend as the Lyrid meteor shower is due to light up the night skies.
The shower peaks on Saturday night and into the small hours of Sunday morning, when there could be up to 20 ‘shooting stars’ in an hour.
One of the oldest known meteor showers, the Lyrid is caused by Earth passing through a section of the solar system filled with debris from a comet.
As long as you’re away from light pollution and there are clear skies it should be visible with the naked eye.
