A man has been jailed over an attack involving a spiked hammer at a shop in Bradford.
Waqar Parvez, 35, gouged Sufyan Saleem’s arm on 28 August last year in the Bismillah Mini Mart on Upper Woodlands Road.
Bradford Crown Court heard how Mr Saleem’s relatives had taken it badly when Parvez’s wife married him instead of choosing the bridegroom they had arranged for her.
Parvez claimed he was abducted and beaten by members of her extended family over 10 years ago.
On the night of the attack, his wife engaged in an argument with Mr Saleem in the store before Parvez brought the weapon from his car and hit the victim.
Parvez, who has a criminal record including 14 convictions for 29 offences, was jailed for six years.
