A Leicester man has been sentenced after being convicted of a sexual offence.
Ibrahim Abdulle, of Myrtle Road pushed the victim into an alleyway off Glebe Street in the city centre in October last year, where he sexually assaulted her, threatening to stab her if she didn’t comply. He threatened her again before fleeing the scene.
Abdulle, 18, was found guilty of one charge of rape of a woman 16 years or over, contrary to Section 1 of The Sexual Offences Act 2003 at Leicester Crown Court.
He was sentenced to eight years imprisonment and will be placed on the Sex Offender’s Register for life.
The victim who was uninjured but extremely distressed by her ordeal ran to the train station nearby and raised the alarm.
Detective Constable 1726 Mike Buckey the investigating officer, said: “The victim has shown great courage during the investigation and court process.
“All reports of sexual offences are taken incredibly seriously. Victims are spoken to by specially trained officers and we work closely with our partner agencies to offer the necessary support to them.
“Anyone who has been the victim of a sexual assault and for whatever reason hasn’t reported it to the police is urged to do so, it’s not always easy to talk about incidents of this nature but please be assured that you will be supported by experienced and specialist officers.”
