Knottingley men jailed for combined 54 years following shooting

Four Knottingley men have been jailed for a combined 54 years plus after being convicted in connection with a shooting in which a gun was repeatedly fired at a house.

Michael Gardiner, 30, Liam Gardiner, 32, Cameron Rumney, 27, and Martin Evans, 29, all from Pontefract, were found guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life at Leeds Crown Court.

Michael Gardiner was jailed for 13 years while his brother Liam was sentenced to 15-and-a-half years. Cameron Rumney and Martin Evans were both given 13-year sentences.

Police were called to a property on School Close, Sharlston Common on 20 July 2016, following reports of a firearms discharge.

Officers attended to find six shots had been fired at the property including five through a window of a room their intended target was in.
