    Hull man jailed for over five years following 'horrendous' attack in Leeds

    A man who carried out a "horrendous sustained attack" in Keighley town centre – which left his victim with life-changing injuries – has been jailed.

    The incident occurred on the evening of April 23 this year, when Kallum Crosby, 26, from Hull, launched the attack in Church Street.

    His victim suffered multiple serious injuries and spent several months in hospital.

    Following police investigations at the scene, Crosby was arrested and later charged.

    Appearing at Bradford Crown Court on Friday, Crosby was jailed for five years and four months after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent.

    Speaking after the hearing, the officer in the case – Detective Constable Katie Briggs – said: "This was a horrendous sustained attack and the consequences could have been far worse.

    "We hope this outcome will bring some justice and comfort to the victim, who has been left with life-changing injuries, and of course to those closest to him who have also been affected as a result of this attack.

    "Crosby is a very dangerous and violent individual and the jail term handed down means the public should feel safer knowing he will be behind bars for a long time to come."

    "The sentencing is also a reflection of the excellent work conducted by Keighley and Bradford officers in the immediate aftermath of the incident, which led to Crosby being swiftly apprehended, and in gathering evidence during the investigation that followed which left Crosby with no alternative but to plead guilty."
