Greater Manchester man pays penalty after handing waste to mystery fly-tipper

A Greater Manchester man has been ordered to pay a fine after handing over 16 bags of waste from his home to a mystery fly-tipper.

Radek Miskovic, from Gorton, admitted transferring waste to an unauthorised person at a Manchester Magistrates Court hearing.

The waste was found dumped on Alpine Street, Clayton, in October 2016. Manchester council’s Environmental Crimes team launched an investigation and found evidence linking the offence to Miskovic.

In an interview under caution, Miskovic, 41, told investigators that a man had called at his property and offered to dispose of his domestic waste, for a fee of £25.

Miskovic admitted that he did not check whether the man taking the waste was authorised to do so and did not obtain a waste transfer note, as required by law. He was unable to provide any details regarding the individual who collected the waste from his property.

He was ordered to pay £340 in fines.
