Five arrested following kidnap

Greater Manchester Police have arrested five people as part of an investigation targeting organised crime in Tameside.

A number of warrants were executed in the Hattersley area and four men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of offences including kidnap, section 18 assault and drug-related felonies.

The arrests follow a kidnapping in Hattersley on 8 September 2017 when a man was taken in a vehicle and seriously assaulted.

Chief Superintendent Neil Evans, Territorial Commander for Tameside, said: “Tackling organised crime is a priority for GMP and today’s activity is part of our ongoing work.

“Working alongside the local authority, we are determined to bear down on organised crime for the benefit of local communities and to make Tameside as safe and peaceful a place to live as possible.”
