Election Exclusive: Bradford Council Under Fire As Residents Unable To Cast Their Vote

Bewildered postal voters fail to receive documentation then turned away from polls.

Bradford Council has been heavily criticised after Sunrise Radio Yorkshire received reports of voters being unable to cast their votes yesterday.

It has been reported that postal voters in the City Ward failed to receive the relevant documentation in the week running up to yesterday’s vote.

Bradford Council told those affected to attend City Hall yesterday where they could vote in person, the complainants were adamant they were told by Council staff they could come after 6pm on voting day.

However, when voters arrived, they were told by Council representatives that they were unable to cast their vote.

Sunrise Radio Yorkshire has contacted Bradford Council and received the following statement:

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “The statutory deadline for replacing postal vote packs which have been sent out but not received is 5pm on election day, so despite our best efforts there was unfortunately nothing we could do in this situation.”
