A drug dealer who went on the run after a reported shooting has been jailed along with his brother who helped him evade justice.
Manchester Crown Court heard that Police recovered drugs and cash from the flat of 27 year old Yusuf Meah, who fled in May last year after a gun was fired in the stairwell of his flat at Ashton Old Road, Openshaw.
The court heard that Yusuf’s brother, Ibrahim Meah rented a private hire vehicle as a getwaway vehicle for Yusuf who was able to evade the Police driving around in the guise of a cabbie for a number of weeks.
Yusuf Meah, admitted possessing an imitation firearm, failing to surrender, and charges of possessing MDMA and cannabis with intent to supply. He was jailed for six years.
30 year old Ibrahim Meah, of Burnage, admitted assisting an offender and was sentenced to 16 months in prison.
