Police discovered a cannabis growing set-up at a flat in Beeston Wednesday evening following a firearms operation.
Intelligence had suggested drugs and firearms at the address in Tempest Road, Beeston, and an armed operation was put in place to search the property and a linked address in Stratford Street. No firearms were found but a cannabis growing set-up of about 50 plants was discovered at the Tempest Road address.
Two men, aged 32 and 36, were arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in custody.
Detective Inspector Dave McDougal, of Leeds District CID, said “Clearly we will always treat any suggestion of firearms very seriously and put appropriate policing measures in place to deal with any such potential threat. Scenes remain in place at both addresses but we will be processing those as quickly as possible to keep any disruption to the local community to an absolute minimum.”
Anyone with any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact the police via 101
