The Williams team has provided Robert Kubica with the next step in a possible fairy tale comeback to Formula 1.
The Polish rider has not raced in F1 since he suffered life-changing injuries in a rally accident in 2011 and now has only partial movement in his right arm.
The 32-year-old is now being given two days of testing so that Williams can evaluate him as a potential replacement for Felipe Massa.
Over summer Kubica tested three times with Renault but the relationship went no further.
He is due to test initially at Silverstone after the Japanese Grand Prix before moving on to a full assessment test at the Hungaroring.
