Uefa is planning to create a third European club competition.
The new tournament would operate alongside the Champions League and the Europa League from 2021.
Andrea Agnelli, the head of the European Club Association, spoke outside of an annual meeting of the association in Croatia, claiming "the green light has been given", pending approval.
No more details about the proposed tournament have been released.
