Everton 3-1 Chelsea

Everton bounced back from their crushing defeat at the hands of local rivals Liverpool in the Merseyside derby, to register an impressive win against Chelsea. Richarlison was on the scoresheet once again before Dominic Calvert-Lewin notched his first goal since October to double the Toffees lead. Mateo Kovacic gave the visitors some hope in the second half, before Calvert-Lewin killed the game off in the final 10 minutes, handing Duncan Ferguson his first win as interim boss and pulling Everton out of the relegation zone.

Bournemouth 0-3 Liverpool

The league leaders continued their run of dominance in the league with yet another impressive win. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are both players whose Liverpool career has been blighted by injury, so the midfield duo will have been delighted to get on the scoresheet in the first half. Mohamed Salah gave the Reds their third goal in the second half and Jurgen Klopp’s men were able to see the game out with their first clean sheet in all competitions since late September.

Tottenham Hotspur 5-0 Burnley

Jose Mourinho got Spurs’ results back on track at the weekend with a comfortable win over Burnley. The hosts surged into an early lead with two goals after 10 minutes through Harry Kane and Lucas Moura before Son Heung-min scored a contender for goal of the season after a surging run from the edge of his own box saw him take the entire Burnley defence out of the game before finishing his effort with aplomb. Goals from Kane and Moussa Sissoko put the game beyond all doubt in the second half, and Spurs continued their push towards a place in the top four.

Watford 0-0 Crystal Palace

It was a dull affair at Vicarage Road that saw chances come in short supply. Gerard Deulofeu was perhaps the closest to scoring when his long-range effort rolled barely wide of the post. Yet another draw for the Hornets keeps them rooted to the foot of the table, while Crystal Palace occupy 10th, just one point shy of the European qualification spots.

Manchester City 1-2 Manchester United

A loss against their local rivals now means that Manchester City have dropped as many points this season as they did in the entirety of last season. It also puts them 14 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool. A staggering reality for the team that eased their way to record Premier League points totals in back-to-back seasons. Despite the apparent disparity in squad quality, it was the red side of Manchester that were the dominant force at the Etihad Stadium, with Marcus Rashford converting a penalty to hand his side the lead before Anthony Martial doubled it less than 10 minutes later. Nicolas Otamendi came off the bench to pull one back for the Citizens, but they weren’t able to rally and salvage a point, and subsequently slipped further adrift of pole position.

Aston Villa 1-4 Leicester City

Leicester continue to bite at the heels of Liverpool in second place with an eighth successive league victory, and an eight successive game in which Jamie Vardy scored a goal, closing in on his own record set in the 2015/16 season. Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho and Jonny Evans were on target for the Foxes as they dispatched Aston Villa with ease. A Jack Grealish goal on the stroke of half time was little consolation, as the Villains were left defeated and within touching distance of the relegation zone.

Newcastle United 2-1 Southampton

Newcastle were able to continue their impressive run of form and register back-to-back victories for the first time in the league this season. However, Southampton made them work for it, after Danny Ings gave the Saints the advantage in the second half. Jonjo Shelvey pulled a goal back for the Magpies with just over 20 minutes to go, before Federico Fernandez netted the winner in the dying minutes of the match, putting Steve Bruce’s men level on points with Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Arsenal.

Norwich City 1-2 Sheffield United

Norwich saw their chance at a victory slip away against Sheffield on Sunday, leaving them firmly stuck in the relegation zone, five points adrift of safety. The Canaries got off to a strong start with a goal from Alexander Tettey ensuring they went in 1-0 up at the break. However, two quickfire second half goals from Blades men Enda Stevens and George Baldock ensured all three points would be heading back to South Yorkshire.

Brighton and Hove Albion 2-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers

A mad first half saw all four of the game’s goals scored within a 15-minute stint towards the end of the half. Neal Maupay and Davy Propper were on target for the Seagulls, while Diogo Jota netted twice for the Wolves to ensure both sides went into the break on level terms. After a frenetic first half, the second half was somewhat anti-climactic, with the game ending 2-2.

West Ham United 1-3 Arsenal

After a winless streak in the league dating back to early October, Arsenal were final on the right side of a score line, coming back from 1-0 down at half time against West Ham to claim all three points. Angelo Ogbonna opened the scoring for the Irons before a second half flurry saw Gabriel Martinelli score on his first Premier League start, Nicolas Pepe scored his first goal from open play, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang net his 11th goal of the season to hand the Gunners a taste of victory for the first time in weeks.
