Olympic gold medallist Nick Skelton announces retirement

The two-time Olympic gold medallist Nick Skelton has announced that he will retire in May.

The 59-year-old show jumper amazed the equestrian world when he came back from a potential career ending neck brake in September 2000 to compete at the highest levels again just two years later.

Skelton claimed gold at London 2012 in a team event and became the first Briton since 1944 to win gold in an individual event at Rio 2016.
