Novak Djokovic won the final of the US Open to claim his third victory in New York.
The 31-year-old Serb beat Juan Martin del Potro 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 6-3. It is Djokovic’s 14th Grand Slam title, putting him level with American Pete Sampras.
Djokovic, who won Wimbledon in July, will climb to third in the world after back-to-back Grand Slam victories.
Only his great rivals Roger Federer (20) and Rafael Nadal (17) have won more Grand Slam titles.
