Liverpool have rejected a bid of 100m euros (£90m) from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho.
It is the second bid the Spanish club has made for the 25-year-old, their first came in July with a £72m offer.
Liverpool have reiterated that their Brazilian playmaker is not for sale.
The Catalans have a hole in their squad roughly the size of Neymar, who left the team to join Paris Saint-Germain last week for a world record fee of £200m.
Coutinho came to Liverpool from Inter Milan in 2013 for £8.5m. He signed a five-year deal with the Merseyside club in January, which did not feature a release clause.
