The International Cricket Council (ICC) has submitted a bid to include women’s Twenty20 at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The governing body will make its presentation - in partnership with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) - to an assessment panel early next month.
Cricket has only been part of the Commonwealth Games once before. South Africa won a men's 50-overs-a-side competition in Kuala Lumpur in 1998.
