Bradford City FC today mark the 22nd anniversary of the stadium fire tragedy.
On Saturday 11 May 1985, Bradford City were to be crowned the Third Division Champions – their first piece of sliverware in 56 years – during their last home match of the season.
11,076 fans thronged the stands of Valley Parade that day, as the Bantams took on Lincoln City.
At 3.40pm fire broke out, engulfing the antiquated Main Stand and eventually claiming the lives of 56 supporters.
The disaster brought messages of condolences from around the world and led to new legislation governing safety at the nation's sports grounds and stadia being introduced to avert another tragedy.
