Banned Australian batsman David Warner had been handed a captaincy role at a Canadian Twenty20 franchise.
The 31-year-old is serving a year-long ban from state and international cricket in Australia for his role in the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa.
The left-hander is now playing for Winnipeg Hawks.
He was captain of Australia's T20 team before his suspension and led Indian Premier League side Sunrisers Hyderabad to victory in the 2016 edition.
