Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus has been targeted ever since the film went to be shot. Sets have been vandalised and questions have been raised on the subject of the film, but that hasn’t deterred the filmmaker from surging ahead.
Most recently, posters of the film were released and fans were all praises about Deepika’s look in the film. However, the Karni Sena (who attacked Sanjay in Jaipur when he was shooting earlier this year), aren’t too happy with what they saw.
Members of the Karni Sena, claim that the filmmaker has distorted Rajput history with the film, and to make their point known, recently assembled in front of Raj Mandir theatre and shouted slogans against Bhansali. They also tore the posters of the film.
According to a report, Narain Singh Divrala, district president Jaipur of the Karni Sena said that the filmmaker had promised to show them the film after the first attacks. Reportedly Sanjay didn’t live up to his promise, and hasn’t contacted them either. The Karni Sena also threatened that if he doesn’t show them the film, and if they find anything objectionable in it, then they won’t allow the film to release.
Looks like Padmavati isn’t going to get out of rough waters anytime soon. We hope the matters iron out, and the film releases as scheduled.
