International Film Festival of India: After Sujoy Ghosh resigns as jury chief, Govt points out that Nude was disqualified because it was incomplete

The International Film Festival Of India, that takes place in Goa every year, is in the news this year for all the wrong reasons.

After two films – Sexy Durga and Nude – were dropped from the screening list of the festival, filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh, who was the jury chief of the festival, resigned from his position.

He was the one who had recommended that the screening opened with Nude, which he felt was a strong feminist film. He was also all praise for Sexy Durga, which he thought delivered a strong message about women’s safety. But the Information and Broadcasting ministry overruled the decision of IFFI jury and removed films from the 48th edition of the festival.

But now the government has lashed out at the filmmaker’s decision to step down from his position and instead claimed that the screening of Nude was withdrawn because it was an incomplete film.
