A teenager has been sentenced to a two year detention and training order and has been banned from driving for two years after he forced a woman to drive across Bradford at knife point.
The incident took place on the 3rd of January where the 16-year-old jumped into the woman’s car, threatened her with a kitchen knife and ordered her to “just drive.”
He forced his victim to drive him to Manchester Road, to a dark street off Great Horton Road.
He then let her out of the car and drove off before crashing into a moving car and three parked vehicles.
Bradford Crown Court heard the boy, who can’t be named for legal reasons, fled the scene and was arrested on the 10th of January.
He admitted robbery, having a knife as an offensive weapon, aggravated vehicle taking and driving without a licence or insurance.
The victim said in her personal statement that after this incident she had trouble sleeping, feared strangers and was struggling to concentrate on her studies. She has seen her doctor and is receiving counselling.
