Two men have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms for raping a child in Bradford, following a conviction at Bradford Crown Court.
Sentencing at Bradford Crown Court
Two brothers have been jailed for the rape of a 12-year-old girl in Bradford.
Patrick Leonard, aged 23, and Lannee Ksigwa, aged 19, both of Grosvenor Terrace, were convicted by a jury of rape and sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on Wednesday, 1 October.
Leonard received a 24-year prison sentence plus a year on licence, while Ksigwa was sentenced to 12 years’ detention in a young offender institution.
“Dangerous sexual predators”
Detective Inspector Simon Howroyd, of Bradford District’s Child Safeguarding Unit, said:
“These brothers are dangerous sexual predators, who have destroyed a young girl’s life.
They took advantage of her for their own sexual gratification and both deserve to be behind bars for a long time.
I would like to praise the bravery of the victim in this case for navigating the complex judicial system, and I hope the sentences go some way towards bringing her justice.
West Yorkshire Police take all reports of sexual offending seriously, and victims are encouraged to report offences when they are ready. They will always be treated with the utmost sensitivity.”
Supporting victims of abuse
West Yorkshire Police continue to urge anyone affected by sexual abuse or assault to come forward. Support is available through the Child Safeguarding Unit, independent charities and local victim support services.
Victims can be assured that their reports will be handled with care, confidentiality and compassion.
