Police investigating the murder of a man in Rochdale have arrested a third man.
At around 7am this morning (Thursday 3 March 2016), officers carried out three warrants in the Rochdale area.
A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and has been taken into police custody for questioning.
Shortly before 9pm on Thursday 18 February 2016, police were called by paramedics to a play area at the end of South Street in Wardleworth, Rochdale following reports that a man had been found injured.
Officers attended and found 64-year-old Jalal Uddin with a serious head injury. He was taken to hospital but sadly died a short time later.
A Home Office post-mortem examination concluded that Jalal died from a head injury.
Superintendent Alistair Mallen from GMP’s Rochdale division said: “Our investigation into the murder of Jalal remains on-going.
“I would again like to thank the community for their patience and support whilst we carry out our enquiries and continue to appeal for any witnesses who may have been in the South Street area at the time of the attack, to please contact police.”
