A man who barricaded a Shipley GP in his surgery has been jailed.
Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday, 23 May, how Ray Thompson – who suffers from arthritis – kept Dr Usman Hanif hostage in his consultation room for 15 minutes.
48-year-old Thompson barricaded the doors to the room with furniture and threatened to harm Dr Hanif if he was not given his prescription for painkillers. He also subjected the doctor to racial abuse.
Thompson, from Saltaire, was arrested an hour after the incident.
He has been sentenced to three years in prison.
