Bradford residents who ignore advice and warnings about contaminating recycling bins could end up with a Fixed Penalty Notice of £60.
Bradford Council said if contaminated recycling bins are not spotted before they are picked up, a whole wagonload of recycling could be spoiled.
The council added that it is determined help residents recycle as much as possible and if anyone is not sure about which items can go into recycling bins, the information is available on the council website.
Crews have been reporting that items such as food waste, medical waste and even nappies have been found in recycling bins.
