Police are appealing for witnesses after a flat was badly damaged by fire in the Holmewood area of Bradford on Sunday morning.
The incident happened at The Parade off of Holmewood Road at around 4.15am. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing but officers are treating it as arson.
The fire was in a building that housed a downstairs commercial premises with a residential flat above. At the time of the incident there was a family of four within the flat. They had to climb onto the roof to safety and no one was seriously injured. They were all taken to hospital as a precaution.
Detective Inspector Paula Bickerdike of Bradford CID, said:
"We are treating this incident very seriously. The people within the flat were very fortunate to escape without any serious injuries - this could have had a much more tragic ending. This was a particularly frightening experience for them.
