Man Tasered after smashing up fire engine

Police Tasered a man after he smashed the window of a fire engine with a hammer.

The fire service was called out to a man trapped in a vehicle in the Ordsall area of Salford on Monday (1 October) morning.

Firefighters freed a man from the vehicle on Jennings Avenue, who then “lashed out” and threatened his rescuers with a knife.

The man damaged the windshield of the fire engine and locker panels on the side of the vehicle.

No injuries were reported.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed a Taser was deployed and a man was detained under the Mental Health Act.
