A man who was part of a large scale fraud operation has been sentenced to one year and seven months at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square.
Ahad Miah of Parsonage Road, Manchester has been jailed for conspiracy to defraud after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing.
From April 2013 to April 2014 a number of elderly victims were targeted by a team of men including Miah who called them at their home address and told them they were a police officer or bank official.
Miah was arrested on the 29th of March 2014 by police officers in plain clothing.
Detective Constable Andrew Butcher of GMP’s Fraud Investigation Team, said: “Miah lured in his victims and took full advantage of them while parading as someone who would help them. I hope this final prosecution will give the victim’s some closure and reassure the community that we will target those who profit from fraudulent activity and make them pay for their deceit.”
