Greater Manchester Police are appealing for information after arresting a man over a rape in Rochdale.
It is understood that a woman in her 60s had been sexually assaulted on Sunday (14 October) afternoon near to Oldham Road, at the junction with Ainsworth Street in Rochdale.
Officers attended the scene and discovered a man had been detained by members of the public.
A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape.
Officers from Rochdale CID are dealing with the investigation and are encouraging any witnesses to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Paul Davies from GMP’s Rochdale Borough, said: “There were several people around and we know that some of them took video footage of the incident so we would like to hear from them in order to continue with our investigation.
“This has been a terrifying incident for the woman and we want to do our utmost to get to the bottom of what exactly happened but need the public’s help to do so.”
