A man has been arrested after a woman was attacked with a machete in Stockport.
Shortly before 9.00pm on 9 January, police were called to reports of a disturbance on Outwood Road in Heald Green.
Two men armed with a machete and a metal pole threatened a woman in her 20s after forcing through the front door of an address.
The men rifled through the woman’s handbag whilst demanding money before attacking her with both weapons.
The victim was left with serious head and hand injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
A woman in her 50s tried to call the police before she was also assaulted by one of the men, however she did not suffer any serious injuries.
The offenders fled the scene empty handed.
A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and has been released under investigation.
