Luton Man Jailed For Stabbing In Broad Daylight

A man from Luton has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after stabbing a man in broad daylight.

Sheraz Khan, 23, of Whitecroft Road, was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of a knife in a public place. He denied the charges but was sentenced at Luton Crown Court.

Khan carried out his unprovoked attack on the evening of 7 April 2015, leaving his victim with serious injuries which required life-saving surgery.

Detective Constable Mandy Godfree said: “Khan carried out his brazen attack in daylight hours, during the school’s Easter holidays whilst children were playing in the street. This attack could easily have ended differently.

“I hope such a lengthy sentence sends out the message that unprovoked violence like this will not be tolerated in Bedfordshire. We are committed to pursuing those who behave in this despicable way, and bringing them to justice.”
