Bradford Council has scooped a top award at the prestigious 2021 LGC (Local Government Chronicle) Awards. As well as winning the award for climate response the Council was highly commended in two other categories. This success comes just over a month after winning an award from the Municipal Journal for Innovation in Building Diversity, for its partnership work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Climate Response award recognises the work that has gone into implementing the Government-directed Clean Air Plan for Bradford.
Their work celebrates place and people by creating equal access to employment and opportunities, education, housing, safety, health, leisure and ‘life opportunities’ whilst advocating justice and inclusion for all through the delivery of projects across the district.
Our pioneering project sees skilled and experienced youth work practitioners work with those who are involved in, or at risk of being involved with, serious organised crime, urban street gangs, county lines, exploited or are exploiting others, or in receipt of higher than yellow levels of anti-social behaviour sanctions. Kersten England, Chief Executive for Bradford Council, said: “I am delighted to see the success of Team Bradford being recognised in these national awards. To win one award and be highly commended in two other categories is testament to the way our staff have continued to work hard and deliver vital services to improve and transform the lives of people from across the Bradford district and all our communities. “The very fact that we were shortlisted five times in the categories is quite remarkable given the past couple of years we have all been through. I am extremely proud of my team - Well done to all and very well deserved.” |
