Bradford Council has welcomed a new report calling for major Government investment to boost the life chances for disadvantaged children and young people in the North of England.
The ‘Educating the North: Driving Ambition across the Powerhouse’ report makes a series of recommendations for supporting families and schools in the region.
The report calls on Government to provide £300m extra funding to ensure children are ready for school at the age of five, to create a Regional Schools Commissioner for Yorkshire and to devolve adult education funding to Northern Metro Mayors.
It also calls for businesses across the North to play a greater role in offering opportunities for young people.
