The man who attempted to stop the murder of MP Jo Cox has died at the age of 79.
Bernard Kenny was awarded the George Medal for his bravery. He was stabbed as he tried to intervene during the attack by Thomas Mair in Birstall, which left the MP for Batley and Spen dead in June 2016.
Mr Kenny was seriously injured in the incident but it is not believed to be linked to his death.
Brendan Cox, the widow of Jo, led tributes for Mr Kenny online, saying he “personified the best of our country”.
