Police and HSE are investigating the death of a man from injuries he received when the lift he was using collapsed at Serendipity Care Home in Urmston.
Shortly before 2pm on Monday the 30th of January 2017, police were called to reports that an 87-year-old man had died after being brought to Salford Royal Hospital from the care home.
The man’s family are being supported by specially trained officers and the safety of residents and staff is a priority for all agencies involved in the investigation.
Representatives from GMP, the Fire Service, CQC and members of the Trafford Borough Council safeguarding team met with families of current residents on Tuesday to provide information on the action taken to ensure the care and welfare of residents.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Parker of GMP’s Trafford borough said: “I can confirm that we have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man following an incident at a care home in Urmston. This is a complex joint investigation and it will take some time to establish what caused the lift to collapse.
If anybody has any information that they believe could assist us then we would ask that they contact Trafford police via 101.
