The headteacher of a school in Halifax has been banned from teaching.
Adele Simpson, from Brighouse, splashed funds meant for Moorside Primary School on treating herself to a luxury hotel stay and on alcohol laced weekends with colleagues.
It is also believed that Mrs Simpson used the school’s money for first class train tickets, whilst the school itself struggled to afford basic necessities like pencils and blinds for the windows.
A witness at a hearing in front of a panel from the National College for Teaching and Leadership also claimed that Mrs Simpson had amended test papers, to achieve better results.
The panel said: “Mrs Simpson’s actions did constitute conduct that may bring the profession into disrepute. For example, she authorised school funds to be used for unnecessary first class train travel and hotel accommodation, when some staff had limited teaching resources.
“In addition, she sought to avoid compliance with the School’s Manual and other financial processes, and failed to support staff in their roles. Mrs Simpson’s conduct in relation to the SATs process led to some pupils’ marks being annulled.”
She has 28 days to appeal the decision.
