    Former Husband & Father Of Alleged Honour Killing Victim Further Remanded In Pakistan

    The father and former husband of an alleged "honour killing" victim from Bradford have been remanded in custody for a further 15 days by a judge in Pakistan.

    Samia Shahid, 28, from Bradford, died in Pakistan back in July. Her family had initially claimed that she had died from heart failure but after concerns raised by her second husband and local MP Naz Shah a police post-mortem discovered the actual cause of death to be strangulation.

    There have been allegations that Samia was killed because her family did not approve of her second marriage.

    The pair, her former husband Chaudhry Muhammad Shakeel accused of her murder and her father Chaudhry Muhammad Shahid suspected as an accessory to the crime will next appear in court in Jhelum, in the northern Punjab province, on 26 November.

    The court appearance follows last month’s announcement that Pakistani authorities consider Ms Shahid's mother, Imtiaz BiBi, and her sister, Madiha Shahid, thought to be back in Bradford, proclaimed offenders.

    It is understood that as a consequence Pakistani Police are applying for a red notice - an international alert for a wanted person - from Interpol which could take some weeks.
