A convicted drug dealer who appealed to Magistrates to get his taxi licence back after his conviction has failed in his attempt.
Tameside Magistrates Court heard that Mohammed Arfan Zahid was jailed for 15 months back in 2011 after a 15kg stash of cannabis was found in the boot of his car.
Zahid, of Ronald Street Oldham who had previously held a taxi licence had appealed to Magistrates to overturn the decision by the Council’s licensing department to refuse him a licence after his conviction as he was deemed not to be ‘a fit and proper person.’
The bench upheld the decision to refuse the licences and dismissed the appeal.
