Channel 4 has decided to open its new national HQ in Leeds.

The broadcaster will keep another headquarters in London, but will move roughly 200 of its 800 staff to West Yorkshire.

Leeds City Council said the move would, “bring opportunity to, and benefit from, a young, creative, digitally-savvy population”. The council added it will, “rebalance the UK broadcasting sector”.

Bradford Council leaders have also expressed their delight in the decision. They said: “Bradford’s Screen Skills Diversity Programme will complement the relocation, helping people from across the district and the wider region to gain skills and jobs in the film and television industry”.
