The school immunisation team will be carrying out catch-up vaccination sessions for Year 8 and 9 pupils over the summer for those who missed their immunisations during lockdown.
Parents are being urged to make sure their son or daughter attends these important health clinics taking place in July and August.
The team is contacting parents and cares to arrange appointments.
The clinics will be located across the district in community settings to make it as easy as possible for the young people who would have been vaccinated in school.
Year 8 pupils are due to have the HPV vaccinations which protects against certain cancers. Year 9 pupils are due to have the tetanus, diphtheria and polio boosters and the Men ACWY vaccine which protects against four different types of meningococcal disease.
Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s portfolio holder for healthy people and places, said:
“It is more important than ever to make sure we protect the young people in our district, who would normally have had these immunisations.”
“Vaccinations are the most effective way to prevent infectious diseases and we all want to make sure your family is protected.
“This is why we are working with the Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust to ensure everyone is up-to-date with their vaccinations as soon as possible.”
The team will be following all national and local guidelines to make sure they protect the students, their families and staff.
If you would like to book an appointment to attend one of our clinics please contact the Immunisation Team on 01274 221203.
