Today Police forces across the North of England will come together to mark International Women's Day and 30 years of the British Association of Women in Policing at a conference being held in West Yorkshire.

The event, hosted at the West Yorkshire Police Training and Development Centre at Carr Gate in Wakefield, will welcome more than 200 guests for a day focussing on motivating, inspiring and supporting women to maximise their potential.

Speakers include local champions from West Yorkshire Police, as well as inspirational women from areas outside of policing including fund-raiser Lizzi Jones, author Nicky Seignot, Thai-boxing champion Rachael Mackenzie and Paralympic champion Hannah Cockroft.

West Yorkshire Police Chief Constable Dee Collins, who is the National BAWP President said; "As national chair of BAWP I am delighted to welcome so many people to the event being held on International Women’s Day, when we can all pause and reflect on the contribution of women across the world. We have some fantastic participants taking part in the day who will share their personal and professional views of the challenges ahead for women in the workplace."
