Residents in Bradford are being warned about a football-based lottery scam.
Police have told the public to be on their guard against a con that has allegedly been resurrected from 2014.
A number of residents have received letters which claim that they have won £800,000 in an “International FIFA World Cup Online Lottery”.
The letter tells recipients that they should contact a “claims agent” on the number provided to claim their prize money.
The letter also details that winners should update changes in personal information with the “claims agent” – information which can be used to commit identity fraud.
West Yorkshire Police said FIFA have confirmed that any such correspondence has no connection with or authorisation from FIFA.
