Mosques across Bradford will be opening their doors to all faiths and none this weekend.
Mosques in the district are hoping to get as many people from different backgrounds to come along to their local mosque on Sunday 3 March and learn more about their neighbours and each other’s lives, in particular common values for the care of the environment and respecting others - irrespective of faith, culture or background.
Visit My Mosque is a national initiative facilitated by the Muslim Council of Britain, the country’s largest Muslim umbrella body with over 500 affiliated national, regional and local organisations.
Coun Abdul Jabar, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Neighbourhoods and Community Safety, said: “I hope many people will take this opportunity to visit participating mosques to experience the part they play in the lives of their fellow citizens.
“Although beliefs and cultures may differ, values of tolerance, fellowship and community are shared by everyone.
“By discovering the relationship people have with their mosque, non-Muslim visitors may be surprised to learn not what differences they have, but just how much they share in common with regular worshippers.”
