    Barcelona attack condemned by community leaders

    Community leaders have spoken out to condemn the terror attacks in Spain that have so far left 14 people dead and dozens injured.

    Leader of Leeds City Council Councillor Judith Blake said: “I am deeply saddened by these awful events in Barcelona today and our condolences and thoughts are with all those affected. On behalf of everyone in Leeds I would like to offer our fullest support to the city of Barcelona and the people of Spain. While the details are still emerging, we in Leeds would like to reiterate we stand shoulder to shoulder with all those who choose understanding, solidarity and compassion over hate and anyone who seeks to divide us through harm or fear.”

    Subby Amini, a spokesperson for the Ahmadiyya Muslim community said: “The victims of the tragic and barbaric events in Barcelona and their families are in our special thoughts and prayers. To harm others is never acceptable and goes against the teachings of Islam.”
