A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a fail-to-stop collision in Cheadle. On Monday 26th December, a 41-year-old man was walking along the High Street in Cheadle when he was involved in a collision with a silver A-Class Mercedes.
The car travelled 60 metres with the man trapped underneath, before he became free. The car was then driven away from the scene. The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
A 32-year-old man was arrested in the Knutsford area on Wednesday 28th December on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury. He has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody for questioning as the enquiries are still ongoing.
Police Constable Paul Joynson of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are making progress with our enquiries but we are still in the early stages of the investigation and need people who have information to come forward.”
